I have terribly exciting news for you! A Perfect Insane’s Dashboard Cookie experiment was #9 in Austin Monthly’s May 2010 110 Fun Things To Do In the Summer! Can you believe it?!
Last summer I baked chocolate chip cookies on the dashboard of my black car, then served them that night with ice cream at a dinner party. It was such a fantastic way to make the best of the 100 degree heat, and my guests got a kick out of eating a simple, traditional dessert baked in an unconventional way. Enjoy a new appreciation for Texas summers — bake green cookies!
Of the other 109 things, here are some of my favorites:
- #37 Ride the Rails through the Texas Hill County on the Austin Steam Train. Tix start at $12.
- #39 Sunset Valley Free Concert Series. Dale Watson will be there!
- #76 Dry Creek Cafe on Mt. Bonnell Road. I used to go here all the time in college. Cash only.
- #89 Paddle with your Pooch at Texas Rowing Center. Starts at $20. I need a dog.
- #93 Cool off at Campbell’s Hole, a lesser known swimming spot one mile upstream from Barton Springs. Access from the Spyglass entrance (get Taco Deli to go while you’re at it)
While I’ve usually already done or know about items on most “what to do in Austin” lists, Austin Monthly really went outside the box looking for fun activities this summer. I highly recommend picking up this issue, even if you aren’t getting it just to frame my blurb for your wall.
OMG You’re famous!!! I’m so impressed!
Yay! Awesome!
