First Crop

Knock knock. Who’s there? Lettuce. Lettuce who?

Lettuce eat lettuce out of a pot instead of a bag!

I made that up all by myself.  Can you tell?

I love growing things that are functional, and luckily, I live on the third floor so deer can’t get to my tasties.

It’s not quite complete yet, but take a look at Patio Transformation 2010!

Spray paint does wonders for terra cotta pots.

When I first moved into my place, I found myself with a mouse infestation.  The first one was cute and S and I named him Cheerio after we trapped him under a clear bowl.  We let him go in the nature preserve up the road.  After a gnawed through bag of bagels, poop in my kitchen drawers, three bloody mice on glue traps, and once dead mouse falling out of the oven, and I was over my furry friends.  It was a traumatic month-long ordeal.  And it was all thanks to my downstairs neighbors who has a birdseed feeder on their patio.  Also known as a verminseed feeder.

I love birds! But, for obvious reasons, I get the heeby jeebies just thinking about birdseed.  I tried out a suet box, and it works just as great! Below is a little cardinal that comes to my suet box each evening.  I also get Carolina chickadees, blue jays, and a woodpecker!

Isn’t he fabulous?

Lastly, I simply MUST show you my first lettuce crop!

Come over! I’ll make you a salad!
